I noticed recently when one of our sbs 2008 servers got rebooted the gateway would disappear, the first time it happened i thought nothing of it I just ran the fix my network wizard and that sorted it but the next time it rebooted it disappeared again, it turns out its a known issue i found the answer on the SBS Blog

1. To fix the issue go to the TCP/IP properties of the network card and enter in the proper default gateway.

2. Download the hotfix and install to stop it happening again

3. Manually edit the registry to remove the extra spaces in the following location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Para
meters\Interfaces\<GUID>\DefaultGateway

The guid is the interface for the network card if you have one there will be one entry if you have two network cards there will be two entries.

3. Double click the value for DefaultGateway and remove the blank lines above and below the gateway address and click ok.

4. Reboot server if needed.

I came across an issue on SBS 2003 and SBS 2008 accessing http://companyweb on the server, after installing the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (963027 or 969897) or Internet Explorer 8.0 or Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2.

To fix the problem

SBS2003

On an SBS 2003 server this issue can be fixed by applying update KB961143.

Note: You must have .NET Framework 2.0 installed before you apply this update.

SBS2008

On an SBS 2008 server this issue can be fixed by applying SBS 2008 Update Rollup 2 (960911). This update is now available on Microsoft Update and WSUS.

Or you can use this method KB963027

Well its my first post and i just finished installing SBS 2008 on Hyper-v server R2 Beta with no real problems what so ever i expected it to run incredibly slow but i was pleasently supprised with the speed of it, there were a couple of quirks when it comes to adding extra hard drives etc you need to take the disk offline so it is not availible to the host operating system using the List Disk command at the command prompt, for example

type DISKPART

type List Disk

type Select Disk (number)

type Offline Disk

this them makes the disk offline and it is availible to the guest os in the hyper v manager, appart from that i am otherwise quite impressed.
